Velvet has been around since 2000BC, in earlier times only the royalty and only nobility could afford any kind of velvet garments. However –thank god- in this last century, velvet has become affordable for the majority.
This fabulous textile its been screaming all over fashion week, and I am so glad. Velvet is rich, luxurious, soft, elegant, and also comes in rich colors, enough reasons to have it right back in our closets. So my point here would be: Velvet is back!!
I find velvet to be a motivation for the enrichment of one’s wardrobe. I’ve probed to myself that I do feel fancier, prettier, classier and maybe closest to royalty? Maybe a silly thought, but accurate.
Velvet becomes more versatile each day, since now the street style has unlocked the limitations for every existing textile.
Velvet can be found in flip flops, sandals, boots, chokers and socks. And, since we’re not in the monarchy era, multiple stores, from Zara and Topshop to Miu Miu and Jimmy Choo, offer a great variety and prices so that we can put our credit cards in their machines, and the perfection in our closet. Because who could resist this smooth textile of queens, right?
